Three people are sent to the hospital after a head-on collision on I-70.

According to Zanesville State Highway Patrol Post Commander Steven Rine, a silver G6 was headed west-bound on the interstate, when the driver lost control, bumped another car and crossed into the median. The car then crossed into the oncoming traffic of the east-bound lane and hit a green Buick head-on.

Commander Rine said the drivers of the silver and green cars and a passenger also from the green car were taken to Good Samaritan hospital. Medflight was called, but couldn’t respond due to the weather. Two of the three transported are in serious condition, while the other is in fair condition.

The accident caused both lanes of the highway to be shut down completely for about an hour.

The accident remains under investigation. We’ll bring you more information as it becomes available.
