Spring Pruning

Spring is almost here, and it’s time to get your yard ready.

Timber Run Gardens says more people prune this time of year, so they can shape trees, bushes, and plant and help tame their growth, but you need to be careful how you go about pruning.

"Of course all those flower beds are out there on the flowering are out there on the flower shrubs. So, if you do any pruning, you’re going to probably sacrifice some of the bloom. So, just be careful on what you’re pruning, " says owner, Steve Carter.

To prep for planting, Carter says it’s a good time to sanitize your garden.

"Make sure you clean out all the old debris, old leaves, old twigs, old tops, or any of the debris on perennials. That harbors disease and insects. You want to get that out of there now, " says Carter.

Carter says he does anticipate seeing more local gardens across the area because growing your own produce is becoming more popular.
