Wayne Avenue Construction Update

While the construction project on Wayne Avenue in Zanesville is causing some traffic headaches for drivers, it is on schedule.

The main water line is set to be installed by the end of this week.

"Then they have to pressure test that and chlorinate that to make sure the samples came back. Then they can start hooking the individual services up for the home, which is approximately 100 services we have to go through, " says Zanesville Public Service Director, Mike Sims.

Despite detour signs for drivers to use Moxahala or Putnam Avenues as an alternate route, there’s still traffic back-up from the construction site.

"We’re trying to work with the contractor to maybe get a flagger out instead of the drop cross barrier that is just timed. I think if we can work something out there, maybe we can move the local traffic out there faster, " says Sims.

Sims says the project is set to be completed in July, but workers could have it done as early as May.
