Abandoned Building Fire Intentionally Set

Zanesville Police say four juveniles will be charged in connection with a fire at an abandoned building in the 1400 block of Lake Drive.

Detective Sergeant Ric Roush says it happened Wednesday evening around 7:54.

Roush says just before the fire was reported several juveniles were seen playing in and around the building. The fire was found to be intentionally set.

Roush says officers and detectives located the juveniles and brought them in for questioning.

He says the suspects are cooperating with the investigation and have been released to their parents. Roush says charges will be filed against the four children sometime in the near future after the case is presented to the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office.

Roush says this fire does not appear to be involved in any way with the other arson fires in the City of Zanesville. Those fires are still under investigation at this time. The names of the suspects were not released by Police.
