Fair Housing Month

The City of Cambridge is proclaiming April Fair Housing Month.

In honor of that, the Economic and Community Development Department is working with City Engineer Steve Sherry to make improvements around the city for disabled citizens.

"That’s always an important month for us,"said Developmental Specialist Evelyn King. "That is in effect telling residents that all citizens that the city of Cambridge is here for you and won’t allow any social injustices to occur."

The Economic and Community Development Department and City Engineer are working to finish Challenger Field, install bathrooms at Jefferson Park and improve sidewalks throughout the city.

"A lot of our sidewalks, like sidewalks everywhere, because of our severe weather, get in pretty bad shape," said King. "They cannot use a lot of our sidewalks safely or cross the streets because of curbs."

All improvements are possible because of various grants.

They hope to have everything done within the next year.
