Four juveniles await charges stemming from a fire in Zanesville Wednesday evening.

Zanesville Police Detective Sergeant Ric Roush says Zanesville fire crews responded to the blaze in the 1400 block of Lake Drive.

"When they arrived, they were told by some residents in the area that they had seen a number of young children playing around the building shortly before the fire was discovered," said Roush.

The detective bureau and patrol officers investigated and interviewed four juveniles. Roush says fire officials deemed the fire intentionally set and police found the juveniles responsible.

Roush says this fire is different than other recent arsons.

"It does not appear in any way that this fire is connected in any with the recent arson fires that we’ve had down on the southend," said Roush.

The juveniles are at home with their parents.

Meanwhile, ZPD is meeting with the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s office for charges.
