The Zanesville Police Department says an eight-year-old girl is sent to Good Samaritan Hospital after a minor two car accident.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. along State Route 60 near Hughes Street.

Lieutenant Tony Coury says the driver of the pick-up truck , 32-year-old Michelle Johnson of Cambridge, was stopped in traffic when the driver of the SUV, 19-year-old Casie Sharkey of Roseville, became distracted and struck the back end of the pick-up.

The accident caused minor damage.

Johnson and two 12-year-old passengers along with Sharkey did not sustain any injuries, but Coury says the eight-year-old girl complained of pain on her left side and was taken to the hospital. She was in the front seat of the pick-up truck at the time of the accident.

Coury says Sharkey will be cited with assured cleared distance.
