There are 200,000 wild turkeys ready for hunters this spring. The official start of the wild turkey hunting season is Monday, April 19th, which will continue through about mid-May.
The wild turkey is known as Ohio’s largest game bird.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources wants to remind hunters that it is forbidden to bait these birds, use an electronic device the call them, or hunt them while they are in trees.
Those participating in the hunting season last year took in more than 20 thousand wild turkeys.
