Lining Cakes for Auction

Hundreds of cakes are lining rows of tables inside the Colony Square Mall.

They range from Disney characters and fun at the pool to Thomas the Tank Engine.

"Every year, I’m more surprised at the creativity and the talent out there in our community. It’s really neat to see them come in, " says Carr Center Executive Director, Anna Oertel.

About 250 volunteers were helping cart cakes, sign them in, and place them on the tables for all eyes to see.

It’s the Carr Center’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

"It’s for a wonderful cause. We’re really taking care of some of our most vulnerable citizens in our community at the Carr Center. We do that important work every day in Muskingum County. The money stays local, and we’re able to take care of the people we need to take care of, " says Oertel.

People will be able to vote on their favorite cake, starting tonight at six p.m. Those votes will determine the People’s Choice Award.

The cake auction will take place tomorrow and Friday mornings starting at 8:15 a.m.
