Today is the 40th annual Earth Day celebration. And some area residents got outside to enjoy it.
Help Me Grow, an organization which helps educate parents with children under the age of three and screen children’s development, held a local celebration of the event.
"We’re trying to encourage the families that we work with to spend some time outside, enjoying the nature that’s around them and learn how to have healthy activities for their children," said Help Me Grow Supervisor Heather Rice.
Rice says many of the families help me grow works with spend a lot of time inside and may not thing they can’t do activities because it could cost a lot of money. Rice says getting them outside to enjoy the fresh air can remind them there is plenty to do outdoors that doesn’t cost anything.
