Roads in Muskingum county will get a major face-lift this summer.

The area will see three projects which will resurface about 30 miles of roads and remark nearly 120 miles thanks to various grants.

"We were fortunate that the money became available," said Matt Russell from the Muskingum County Engineer’s Office. "We kind of took advantage of it so we could try to make the roads a little safer."

The remarking project will see about $150,000 in a grant and the resurfacing project will be 75-percent funded from the Ohio Public Works Commission and 25-percent locally.

"You’ll see a lot of paving going on," said Russell. "There’s almost 30 miles they’re doing. You’ll see a lot of asphalt. Just be patient with the paving crews and sometimes it’s a little bit inconvenient too, because it’s paving your road."

The projects will start this summer possibly as early as June.
