More Venison to Feed Hungry

Local food banks are getting almost double the amount of venison from Ohio hunters to feed the hungry.

The program, Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, received more than 110 thousand pounds of donated venison compared to about 54 thousand pounds last year. Over the past three years, the Ohio Department of Natural Resource’s Division of Wildlife says it has covered the cost of processing this venison so it can be used to feed hungry Ohioans.

450 thousand meals are expected to be made from this meat.
