New Concord Woman Charged with DUI After I-70 Crash

Authorities say a New Concord woman is charged with driving under the influence after causing an accident that sent an elderly couple to the hospital.

According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Fonzi Cobler was travelling west on Interstate 70 near the Norwich exit around 10:20 Monday night when she struck another vehicle also headed west on I-70.

That vehicle was occupied by Perry and Virginia Harewood of Hillsboro, Ohio.  Both are in their 60’s.

The Patrol says Cobler then fled the scene, took the next exit hitting a guardrail and then continued toward her home hitting a mailbox before troopers could catch up to her.

Cobler has been charged with driving under the influence, failure to control and leaving the scene of the accident.

The Harewood’s were taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Their conditions weren’t immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation.
