The Newark Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire that took place this afternoon.

It happened at 241 East Main Street.

Assistant Fire Chief Bill Spurgeon says the blaze caught a wall on fire that spread. It took crews about 20 minutes to put out the fire.

Three individuals were home at the time, including occupant Krystal Hill, and Spurgeon says they made it out OK. The Red Cross has been notified for assistance.

There is visible damage to the outside of the home, and Spurgeon says the fire caused about 15 thousand dollars in damage.
