Ohio State alumni are helping future Buckeyes pursue their education.

Tonight at the 11th Annual Scholarship Auciton held by the OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County, local alumni got together to bid on buckeye memorabilia to raise money for scholarships.

"We work very closely with the alumni association," said OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith. "All the clubs throughout the country do fundraisers to do different things. We just want to get out and help the club do fundraisers to do scholarships. It’s nice to get over here."

Each year the Muskingum County Chapter sponsors 10 to 12 scholarships for entering freshmen. This year the group will add four more for students already enrolled.

"The cost of college education just keeps increasing every year," said Muskingum County OSU Alumni Chapter President Terry Kopchak. "We have some very loyal members in Muskingum County and they want to do whatever they can to help students have a great experience at Ohio State."

Sports memorabilia was up for live and silent auction as attendees enjoyed a speech from the Director of Athletics Gene Smith.
