Students and musicians at Muskingum University played beautiful music Sunday afternoon to commemorate a well-loved professor.

Doctor William Schlacks passed away unexpectedly at the beginning of the school year.

"We are still all reeling from it and we just wanted to pay honor to him by having this concert this afternoon," says Don Kason the Interim Director of Wind and Percussion Ensemble.

Doctor Schlacks taught music education, conducting and music theory and led the Wind and Percussion Ensemble and the Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds. Students describe him as an accomplished teacher and composer who left quite a legacy behind. Kason says he would be proud of the concert Sunday.

"He would say it is awesome, I can see him smiling," says Kason.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Music at Muskingum University or the New Concord United Methodist Church.
