While some are just getting back from spring break vacations, others stuck inside are dreaming of summer travel.
Rhoda Collins of the Zanesville AAA says, as the summer months approach, airfare and gas costs will rise. Delta, American and other airlines will charge a projected 13-percent more for the peak travel periods, making now a great time to buy.
"Now is a great time to book your travel," said Collins. "There are a lot of great deals with the airlines and lower travel. There are a lot of great specials out there. Now is a good time to go ahead and book your travel."
Collins said that although gas prices are rising, she doesn’t expect it will deter people from taking vacations.
"Florida is a popular destination, Disney World and Universal Studios. If you’re driving by car,I recommend Myrtle Beach, Chicago, New York and Niagra Falls are great driving vacations."
Airlines are offering fewer seats and flights to cut out costs, but with less supply and a higher demand, airlines will be able to raise prices. Carriers may even add surcharges to prices to cover jet fuel costs.
