Nine women are honored for their good works in the Zanesville community.
The recipients vary in background as well as age.
"Our Bright Futures Award is Olivia Durant. She’s a senior at Bishop Rosecrans," said Craig Miracle, of the Muskingum Family Y. "Two of our young adults are from 25-31. And we have Francis Moore who is our Lifetime Recipient and she is 91."
Miracle said tonight’s recipients each gave a small speech, which he says is better than any keynote speaker.
"I would describe the last 6 groups, this is a special group in terms of their commitment to the empowerment of women, being great role models, to what they do in the community," he said. "They don’t feel like they should be recognized, that it’s what they should do."
The event sold out, squeezing 270 people in for the ceremony.
