A Wooster man is dead after a two vehicle accident late this morning.
It happened around 11 a.m. on State Route 83 in Guernsey County, one mile north of Cumberland.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 39-year-old Algernon Rufat of Albany was traveling south in a Ford dump truck when he collided with 55-year-old Jerry Birkes who was traveling north in a Chevy Duramax truck.
"The southbound vehicle overcorrected and went left of center, striking the northbound vehicle, " says Cambridge Post Commander, Lieutenant Nakia Hendrix.
Hendrix says Birkes was struck in the driver’s side and pronounced dead at the scene. He says Rufat was transported to Southeastern Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
