A two vehicle accident sends a  New Concord woman to the hospital and backs up traffic on Interstate 70 in Zanesville.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on I-70 east near the State Street on ramp.

According to Zanesville Police Lt. Tony Coury, 19-year-old Chelsey Warne was getting onto I-70 east from State Street, lost control of her car and hit the concrete median.

After striking the wall, Coury says her car came back onto the Interstate and was struck by a semi truck travelling east.

Coury says Warne was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital and then flown by Medflight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Her condition isn’t known at this time.

The driver of the semi, Harvey Dekok of Ontario, Canada, was not injured in the crash.

Charges are pending in the accident.
