Bidding on History

Area residents will have the opportunity to take a little piece of Zanesville history to remember their former high school.

In just a few weeks Zanesville High School will auction off pieces of the school for locals to keep for themselves.

"We will be auctioning off anything and everything that’s not attached and some of the things that are attached to the old Zanesville High School. It’s a good way of saying goodbye to old ZHS."

You’ll be able to bid on everything from desks and chairs to auditorium seats and the gym floor.

"They’re excited. We expect a large crowd, we really do. There will be 55 years of classes represented there, so we expect a lot of people."

This isn’t the first time schools have auctioned off pieces of equipment. Butler says they host many auctions for schools around the state, including the Zanesville and Maysville school districts.

Zanesville’s open house will be Saturday, May 22 from noon until 6 p.m. The auction will take place June 5, at 9 a.m.

The Old Roosevelt School will have an auction the same day at 1 p.m. Wilson Elementary will host an auction on June 12, at 10 a.m.

All proceeds go into the general fund for the district.
