One local fitness center wants to make sure kids stay active this summer.

The Fieldhouse is offering its summer camp to kids, between ages six and 14. It starts May 24th and goes through the beginning of September.

Director of Operations, Jim Fraunfelter, says he doesn’t want kids to just sit on the couch and play video games for three months.

"They have to walk a mile. A mile means not in four minutes. We do it different times of the day. They swim every day. We’ve play basketball, dodgeball, football, volleyball, and just anything. The biggest thing we can do is we’re weather-proof. If it’s raining outside, we can come indoors and do the same thing we can do outdoors, " says Fraunfelter.

The summer camp wants to teach kids about the three r’s…respect, responsibility, and recreation.

"If we can get those three r’s, the hopefully, that young man or young lady can go a long way in life, " says Fraunfelter.
