The threat of rain may have brought activities inside Zanesville Community High School, but it didn’t keep people away from the "Rock the Block" event.
School teacher Kathie Dannemann says the students wanted to give something back to the community that the young and old would enjoy.
"We found that math, science, English, and social studies, that’s all important. You get your diploma, but we also need service learning, " says Dannemann.
Dannemann says service learning is something the staff wants to instill in students. They have service projects through the year, and they’ve worked with organization such as the Salvation Army and the Carr Center.
"We also would like them to continue that, whether it be a neighbor, cleaning things up, or it be the elderly. It’s a life-long learning, " says Dannemann.
Zanesville Community High School has been around for three years and is still growing, and Dannemann says it continues to make an impact on local residents.
