Credit Card Theft Arrests

by Nichole Hannahs on May 27, 2010

The Licking County Sheriff’s Office have arrested three people in connection to the theft of credit cards.

Authorities said 26-year-old David Welch, 18-year-old Sarah Bellis and 22-year-old Rueben Russell were all taken into custody.

They said Sunday May 23, a citizen filed a report that someone had broken into the trunk of a car at Dawes Arboretum and taken a purse along with credit cards.

Banks records were sought and showed the cards were being used at the Indian Mound Mall.

Heath Police were able to talk to a store clerk who gave a description of Ruben Russell and he was placed under arrest for obstructing official business, after giving false statements to police.

An anonymous tip Tuesday led to the arrest of Sarah Bellis and her accomplice David Welch. Both acknowledged guilt.

Bellis is charged with receiving stolen property and felony misuse of credit cards. Welch is charged with theft of credit cards and theft from a motor vehicle. All are awaiting a grand jury.
