Four people were taken by Medflight and four others hospitalized following an accident Monday evening in Licking County.
It happened at the intersection of State Routes 13 and 657, just north of Newark around 6 p.m.
According to the Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Matthew Workman of Mount Vernon was northbound on State Route 13 when he lost control of his Chevy Lumina, crossed the center line and went into the path of a Mercury Mountaineer driven by 37-year-old Sean Quinn of Mount Vernon.
Workman was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center by Medflight. His passenger 8-year-old Darien Novatney of Mount Vernon was taken by Medflight to Children’s Hospital.
Sean Quinn was not injured in the crash, but his six passengers were taken to the hospital. 37-year-old Lori Quinn of Mount Vernon was transported to OSU Medical Center by Medflight, as was 87-year-old Virginia Williams of Saint James City Florida.
6-year-old Tessyln Quinn of Mount Vernon, 5-year-old Dakota Staffen of Utica and 37-year-old Margaret Henry of Saint James City Florida were all taken to Licking Memorial Health. 16-year-old Dillon Jackson of Mount Vernon was transported to Children’s Hospital.
All the occupants in Quinn’s vehicle were wearing seat belts. Workman was not wearing a seatbelt and it’s unknown if his passenger was. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The crash is under investigation.
