No child went away empty-handed from the Moose Lodge today.
In an effort to raise money for the Ohio Special Olympics, The Moose Lodge organized a "Fun Day" fundraiser for the community. The main organizer, Carolyn Arbuckle, tells us why she helps.
"I think it’s because of the special-needs people. There’s just something about them. They’re proud of everything they do and they don’t realize they have a disability. If people could just see how they react when they’re in the Olympics and how they react when they win an event even a small token, it just touches my heart."
The Fun Day included clowns, games, prizes, and a Chinese raffle. Arbuckle says she hopes to have a similar fundraiser in the future.
"Since we got our feet wet this year, we’ll know a little more about what to do next year."
It was a dollar to attend the Fun Day, and all kids walked away with prizes.
