Golf Tournament Helping Red Cross

Golfers hit the links today to support the Red Cross.

About 120 golfers came out to the Jaycee’s Golf Course, helping the organization raise much-needed funds.

"We’ve been very busy this winter," said Dan Hartman of the Red Cross. "The number of fires has kept on going, so an event like this is really going to help out the checkbook."

Hartman says the Red Cross is $27,000 in the red currently. He hopes today’s fundraiser brings them closer to being in the black, especially with summer right around the corner.

"People don’t think about it, but we have more cooking fires and that type of thing in the summer," he said. "We have them all year long"

The Red Cross’ Power of the Purse auction is also coming up. That fundraising event will be held Saturday, May 15.
