Another 20 students are now proud graduates of the Leadership Muskingum Program.

Today all 20 graduates were honored at a ceremony recognizing their hard work and efforts throughout the nine-month program.

One former graduate also received a special honor, the Chuck Hunter Community Leadership Award Scholarship.

"I’m honored and humbled," said award winner, Dan Kieffer. "Chuck Taylor was an inspiration to me. He and Dorothy Montgomery and people like Robert Ditko, brought to our community a simple concept to make Muskingum County a better place to live, work, and play."

Former award winner Dorothy Montgomery says Leadership Muskingum and organization Pro-Muskingum are critical to the area.

"Everyone should have pride in their community and the respect we have for the leaders," said Montgomery. "We really are blessed in Muskingum County with the work force and the opportunities that we have. We talk about brain drain, but I think you’ll find that a lot of our young people that go away come back because they realize the values and the opportunities that are here."

Both Kieffer and Montgomery say the class allows its students to grow in leadership and networking.

This is the 10th year for the event.
