One local senior is headed to a national cosmetology competition.

We first told you about Mid-East student Shala Wallace when she and her best friend Cheyenne Matz went to the state competition last month.

"We went to competition and competed in hair and I competed against my best friend and she beat me she got first and I got second," Matz said.

Matz said it’s exciting that they got the top two places at the state competition. And even though both girls are graduating tomorrow from Mid-East Career and Technology Center Wallace is preparing for the national competition next month.

"’I’m pretty excited. Right now we’ve been so focused on state board and graduation and everything that I haven’t really been able to get ready for it for it as much as i’d hope for. So the second tomorrow is over which is graduation I’m going to have to step it up and be in the salon almost every day to get ready for it but I’m really excited," Wallace said.

Wallace will be competing at nationals in June.
