Local ladies are ready for a night on the town.

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross has sold all 300 of its tickets to the "Power of the Purse" event. It takes place this Saturday night at the Ohio University-Zanesville/Zane State Campus Center.

"Girls just like to have fun. That’s all there is to it. It’s a great night out. It’s truly a lady’s night out. It’s good food, good companionship, and a chance to get purses. That’s every woman’s dream of a night out, " says Marlene Henderson of the Red Cross.

While it may be a good time for the women, every single purse has a deeper meaning for the Red Cross.

"Those purses are very powerful because with every bid and with every purchase of a purse, it’s helping a family, " says Henderson.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to the Red Cross’ Disaster Relief fund, which is still in the red. It will help families who lose their homes to a fire or any other weather-related event.
