In celebration of Nurse Appreciation Week, Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital recognized their 2010 nursing P.R.I.D.E. awards. For one registered nurse, the day was particularly special. Rob Williamson was named RN of the year. Williamson works in the radiology department and was nominated for this award by his peers.

Williamson says, "It’s always great when you’re acknowledged by your colleagues when you work with such a great group of people that you have a lot of respect for so it’s very humbling."

Williamson says that the best part of his job is his patients and being able to help them out. He says, "That’s what makes it all worth it. What lifts you up, even when you’ve had a down day it just picks you back up and you’re ready for the next day so it’s beautiful."

Other awards are being presented to nursing staff members who demonstrate professionalism, respect, innovation, dedication, and excellence.

Chief Nursing Officer, Pat Campbell says, "The way they work with each other and help their peers and respect one another is what makes them special."

All hospital staff members were able to attend the event.
