For high school seniors looking to apply for scholarships, major deadlines are approaching quickly, and the Muskingum County Community Foundation is asking that students don’t wait until the last second to fill our their applications.
"For a lot of the scholarships, there’s an essay they may have to participate in. A lot of students shy away from that. They think that they shouldn’t fill it out, but usually the essays are pretty simple. It’s a lot about themselves and what they think about different issues, or why they feel they deserve the scholarship, " says Heather Sands of the Muskingum County Community Foundation.
These scholarships have a major impact on students’ lives and help them further their education.
"Whether it be a hundred dollar scholarship or a five thousand dollar scholarship, each little bit helps. So, students should make sure they fill out as many as they can because those hundred dollars here and there will definitely add up into larger money to kind of help in the long-run in the fall, " says Sands.
Money from scholarships can be used to pay for tuition, room and board, books, and supplies for college.
