Most students in the 8th grade class at Maysville Middle School have a better idea of what they want to do for the rest of their lives.

It was Career Day, and students got to experience a wide range of fields. The most popular occupation seemed to be a veterinarian.

8th Grade Language Arts Teacher, Sara Young, says the idea behind the event is just to get the kids to start thinking about their futures.

"I want them to leave 8th grade with direction. A lot of them have already chosen classes for high school. This is helping to give them some direction, " says Young.

Career Day comes at the end of a year-long project that included a research paper each student had to write on a favored occupation. 8th grader Dalton Macenko chose general contracting.

"I just kind of like building things with my dad with wood. So, we just kind of like to have fun with it, " says Macenko.

Macenko says one of his favorite TV shows to watch is HGTVs "Holmes on Homes."
