Summer Safety

A taste of summer-like weather and the approaching holiday weekend means more people will be engaging in water activities, including swimming.

State parks offer about 80 beaches and 20 pools that nearly four-point-five million people visited last year, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Recreation have a few key points to keep you and your family safe.

It’s important for parents to keep an eye of their kids. Families should only enter the water in areas designated for swimming. Don’t go too deep in you don’t know how to swim. Have a cell phone on hand in case of an emergency and do not consume alcohol if you plan on being in the water.
