Teacher Appreciation Week

Schools across the country are recognizing their teachers this week for the hard work they do every day.

McIntire Munson Elementary School in Zanesville treated teachers to a luncheon this afternoon, and the school’s PTO has been passing out special goodies with thoughtful messages.

"A lot of times, it’s one of those thankless jobs, but again, they’re almost surrogate parents in the classroom. They show kids they can, and on a daily basis, they get involved in their lives, " says Principal Jeff Moore.

First grade teacher Marla Walker says it’s nice to receive attention for the hard work she puts in, but she says the kids reward her every day.

"Just to know that one teacher can make a difference in so many students’ lives, in so many people’s lives. Sometimes I don’t think we realize how much, " says Walker.

Walker says her favorite part of the job is getting hand-written notes from her students, saying how much they appreciate her.
