Thornville Fire Destroys Home

A Brownsville family is wondering what happened to a home they bought in Thornville and were attempting to remodel.

The Millersport Fire Department responded to a fire at 13557 Pine Road around five this morning to what neighbors are describing as a fully engulfed home. They say crews evacuated people from some of the surrounding homes because of the intensity of the fire and fear of a gas explosion.

No one was home at the time of the fire. The homeowners say they hadn’t started work on the house yet but did have some wood supplies inside the one-story structure.

They say their son-in-law had gone fishing earlier in the day and went to do yard work at the home only to find the house a total loss.

After speaking with neighbors, the homeowners say several people heard voices coming from the structure early in the morning. The fire department could not be reached for comment to determine if the fire was in fact suspicious.
