A native Zanesville family is the new owner of the Go Kleen Car Wash, located at the corner of Maple Avenue and Taylor Street.

Three bidders showed up at the court-ordered auction Wednesday morning, and the Cordial family walked away with the car wash and a paved lot across the street for $385,000, plus a 10 percent buyers premium.

Auctioneer, Barry Baker, says the building was initially appraised at more than $700,000.

"I’ve been selling car washes at auction for the last three or four years. It’s a tough business, and that’s the reason I’ve been selling car washes at auction. So, the market spoke today, whether somebody thinks it’s a high price or low price, " says Baker.

The Cordials do own a car wash in Columbus and plan on keeping the facility as is, with some improvements.

"We plan on changing the equipment, quite a bit of equipment change, and people notice changes very quickly, " says Larry Cordial.

A fourth bidder also was present at the auction and bought the grass lot across the street for $20,000, plus a 10 percent buyers premium. Tim Erwine runs his business in the building beside the lot and says he bought it for investment purposes.
