The Zanesville Police Department says an arrest has been made in connection with an April 21st homicide.

Officers responded to the intersection of Luck Avenue and Ohio Street around 11:30 that night and found 27-year-old Dajuan McKenzie, who had been shot once in the head and once in the upper body. McKenzie later died of his injuries at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

"After a two, two and a half week investigation, we were able to file charges on an individual late last week, and then he was arrested over the weekend, actually in White Hall, during a routine traffic stop," says Detective Sergeant Ric Roush.

That individual, 26-year-old Reese Bowers of Zanesville, is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail. Roush says bowers will face a hearing there before being brought back to Zanesville.

Bowers is being charged with two counts of murder with a firearm specification.

"He is charged with two counts. Obviously, that does not means two victims, it just means he is charged with two different ways under the same statute, " says Roush.

Bowers also faces one count of involuntary manslaughter, one count of weapon under disability, and one count of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
