Block Party a Big Hit

Combine cotton candy, popcorn, and prizes, and what kid wouldn’t be there?!

The Salvation Army was buzzing Thursday as children of all ages stopped by for a fun "Block Party" afternoon put on by the Duncan Falls United Methodist Church.

"We’ve got cotton candy, popcorn, free hotdogs, hamburgers. We’ve had people that have heard about the ministry and we’ve had so many churches that have come together and donated food, games, prizes," says Duncan Falls United Methodist Church Youth Leader, Debbie Gheen.

The youth group is called Eternity, and started with only two members. They eventually grew and wanted to do something to reach out to the community.

"Two kids in our youth group in September decided we were going to make a difference in the world, and they reached out and we’re up to 40 kids today. We hope five or ten people showed up today in our ministry, and we have a sidewalk, a parking lot, an alley, it’s amazing," says Gheen.

Many members of the youth group were there to hand out prizes, food, and play games with the children coming through.
