Cleaning Up Gus Macker

Downtown Zanesville is back to normal after the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament wrapped up this evening.

Barricades have been removed. There’s no more tape on the streets marking the courts, and litter patrol has scanned the area all thanks to 350 volunteers and three hours of work.

"There’s a lot of things that go into it. Picking up the litter to breaking down the baskets to just all the basketballs, crates, and scoreboards. Just all the things that make this happen, " says Downtown Association Manager, Dana Matz.

Matz says the only problem organizers ran into this year was the weather. 75% of the event saw either heavy rain or thunderstorms, which did cause turn-out to be slightly lower.

"I think it affected the concessions and local non-profits, but unfortunately, it’s something we can’t control, " says Matz.

But overall, Matz says the event was a success.
