Another mode of transportation could start to run through Muskingum and Perry counties again.
The Commissioners met today with those interested in restoring the Glass Rock Line which runs from Route 93 to 668 in Perry County.
"We’re going to establish a scenic railroad along that line and put it in a position where if the opportunity presents itself, we can do a little industrial development along there, bring in some businesses that would help the economy of the local area," says Bill Ratz.
The track is about 13 miles long, and has been let go for close to 15 years.
"We need their help in obtaining Federal funds for the restoration of the railroad, particularly bridges," says Ratz.
The hope is that the railway would create more jobs, and spur economic growth along the railway.
