Helping Raise Money for Disaster Relief Fund

One local organization that’s always giving is asking for your help.

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross’s Disaster Relief Fund is in the red by about $14,000. The staff say while they have handled about the same amount of fires this year as in years past, the number of people in those homes is growing, but the organization is breathing a little sigh of relief tonight.

"It’s great when the heroes down here at Terry’s step up and say disaster relief is low, let’s help you out, " says Keely Warden of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross.

Terry’s Tavern in Zanesville offered to host an event for the Red Cross, which wraps up at midnight. All proceeds will go to that Disaster Relief Fund, and Warden says any amount will help out.

"You hear the sirens right now, and we’re worried about where they’re going because we won’t refuse service. It doesn’t matter how low that budget is. We believe we need to serve the public, and that’s where we’ll be, " says Warden.

The Red Cross staff is hoping to raise about $1,000 by the end of the night.
