Many Americans struggle with obesity and how to overcome it. A Zanesville business says the key to becoming a healthier you is to change your way of life.

The Wellness Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Butch Zwelling today. Their mission is to provide information to the community on how to make healthy lifestyle changes which will lead to weight loss.

"We’re really just trying to reach the community. Help them reach their ultimate health goals, feel better. When they feel better, the side effect is ya know, they’re going to lose weight and get healthy all at the same time," says Wellness Coach Megan Bowman.

Since 2009, area participants have lost a total of 3,000 pounds to-date. The Wellness Center puts an emphasis on lifestyle change rather than dieting.

"It’s a thing of discipline, and the best part is i feel so much more healthy. I swim five days a week which i wouldn’t have ever dreamed of doing that and i just feel really good about myself and i want to have the rest of my life, be healthy," says Wellness Center Member Betty Howard.

If you are not a member of the Wellness Center you can still stop in for what they call "fast food for smart people" which is a combination of beverages that taste great and are good for you.
