Licking County wants to highlight the community and how its residents are choosing to be tobacco, alcohol, and drug free.
The health department cites that each day about 3,000 kids pick up and smoke their first cigarette. It will ultimately lead to 1/3 of those kids dying from tobacco-related illnesses, and Health Commissioner Joe Ebel says tobacco use is the number one preventable cause of death.
The county is also hoping to promote a more healthy lifestyle onto residents. That’s because if you don’t eat a balanced diet or stay active, it can bring on major health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
To get these messages across, the health department is teaming up with several other local organizations to hold the 6th annual Kickin’ Ash Splash. It will take place July 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Heath City Water Park.
