Yakubik Drafted By Angels!

Local baseball stand out and Rosecrans grad Jerod Yakubik was selected today in the 34th round by the Los Angeles Angels. The Ohio University senior became the third Bobcat selected in this years draft.

Yakubik recorded 19 doubles this past season for the Bobcats in 243 plate appearences. He was a main stay in the lineup for Ohio, hitting safely in 22 consecutive games which ties for the 10th longest streak in MAC history. With in the conference Yakubik was first in doubles with 14, tied for third in at bats with 12 and 10th in runs scored crossing the dish 31 times.

His final stats show a .325 average from the plate 41 RBIs to go along with eight stolen bases. The selection marks the 42nd player to be dfrated under head coach Joe Carbone since taking over the Bobcats in 1989, and its only the second time the Bobcats have had more than two players selected in the process. Yakubik is from Byesville and played his baseball in the summer for Zanesville Post 29 and the Junior Pioneers.
