An accident on State Route 16 in Hanover Township closed down Eastbound lanes for almost two hours.

State Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Epler says Joseph Brown from Canal Winchester was traveling West on State Route 16 when his front left tire blew out causing him to cross the median and both Eastbound lanes. The company truck he was driving came to rest off the side of the road.

Madison Township Fire Department was the first responder and had to close lanes due to potentially hazardous materials in the back of the truck.

"They did say that they had four to six bottles of miscellaneous oxygen and acetylene bottles that are fairly large. From there we waited until additional crews got on the scene that way we had an entry team and a back up team," says Captain Larry Thomas of Madison Township Fire Department.

Frazeysburg Fire Rescue was also on the scene. Once the tanks were removed from the truck, the road was reopened. Brown did not sustain any injuries and there were no other passengers in the vehicle. He will be cited with having defective equipment.
