Local students are donating some of their summer to help feed the hungry.
Avondale Youth Summer School Instructor Dan Brown requires his students to do community service.
"This teaches kids to give back to the community, to understand that there are people worse off than they are. It teaches them to care about others," Brown said.
The students volunteer at places like Christ’s Table, the Animal Shelter, and the Food Pantry. Junior Ryan Robinson said the food they are unpacking goes to people that are in need.
"Well that makes me feel good because there’s a lot of people that need it. I think if there was more stuff like this around the world there wouldn’t be homeless people and people that need food," Robinson said.
