The Veterans Council is just under $30,000 away from completing the World War II and Korean War Memorial in Downtown Zanesville.

Veterans will be out this Friday and Saturday at area grocery stores like Pick-N-Save and Campbell’s collecting donations.

"We’d appreciate any donations if everyone could donate a dollar and five dollars this could come to fruition," Jeff Dittmar from the Muskingum County Veterans Council said.

Dittmar said the Memorial is just about paid for.

"We’re just about 25 to 26 thousand dollars short at this time. We’d love to be able to dedicate this on Veteran’s Day which generally an important day for all veterans," Dittmar said.

The Memorial is located at the corner of 5th and Main Streets in Downtown Zanesville. There are already bronze statues of soldiers and helmets but more will be added.
