The State Fire Marshal’s Office says a fire that killed a 91-year-old Hocking County man yesterday morning will remain undetermined.
Spokesman Shane Cartmill says investigators couldn’t rule out lamp oil as the cause of the fire. The power was out before the blaze. So, the man may have used the lamp oil as an alternative light source. Cartmill says there wasn’t any evidence of criminal intent found at the scene.
The man died after he re-entered his home, located on State Route 93 in Logan, to gather some personal belongings.
This is the 79th fire-related fatality in Ohio.
