If you have a child who won’t be 5-years-old by August 1st, you can register them in preschool.

Zanesville City Schools is now accepting applications for kids, starting at 18-months, to attend classes at Rufus Putnam Community School, but it’s offering an additional class at the new John McIntire Elementary School.

"We’re just trying to help out parents because I know parents work. Some people live in the south. Some people live in the north, east, and west. So, we’re just trying to get a geographical couple classes in both areas, " says Kevin Appleman of Zanesville City Schools.

Appleman says it’s beneficial for young kids to attend preschool.

"The more education you get before you enter kindergarten, it helps them tremendously. If you don’t do that, then they struggle through, " says Appleman.

You can pick up an application at the district’s office on 4th Street. Make sure to bring your child’s birth certificate, shot records, social security card, and proof of address and income. Applications will be accepted over the next 4-6 weeks.
